Best Ness of the Week: Bad One Liners
This past week had several things that could have ended up as the Official J/DB NotW, including the opening half minute of the latest 30 Rock and the previously-mentioned Crisis on Infinite Earths geek-out on Human Target. But when you’ve got two hours of Geoff Johns-penned Smallville, well that’s not something you can pass up.
There was a lot of awesome in Absolute Justice, but what I really loved were Hawkman’s terrible one liners. He just completely failed at the snappy superhero banter pretty much every time he tried, here’s an example:
This wasn’t the most hilarious line of dialogue he had, but it was followed by Ollie giving him 
this look, so I felt it deserved the Written on a JPEG treatment. However, this exchange also needs (needs!) to be shared:
Green Arrow: You know, you really gotta work on your landings.
Hawkman: Woulda been a lot smoother if you hadn’t thrown up.
Green Arrow: Send me your dry cleaning bill.
Hawkman: Send me your dinner bill.
Amazing. I’m used to hearing bad dialogue on Smallville, but to have it be on purpose, and recognized by other characters, somehow that makes it even better. Oh, and the fact that Hawkman seems to be oblivious to his verbal suckitude is pretty great too.
